Oak Adirondack Chair $399.99 divided by 6 years = $66.67 per year.

Which is less expensive?

Now it is your turn, do some research and find out your true cost!

Material of Outdoor Patio Furniture Your Cost Divide Life Expectancy Your true cost per year*
Alluminum   Divided by 2 years
Cast Iron   Divided by 8 years
Plastic   Divided by 3 years
Cedar   Divided by 4 years
Maple   Divided by 5 years
Oak   Divided by 6 years
Wicker   Divided by 5 years
Teak   Divided by 75 years
If you were to add in the cost of painting, storage, sanding, re-webbing, and so on, your cost does go up as does the life expectancy.

*Life expectancy is based on untreated, left in the weather all year. In essence doing nothing but enjoying your furniture.
The life expectancy can be increased by staining, painting, covering or bringing out of the weather.

Mortise & Tenon Joints

This is the type of joint used in all our teak furniture, it is the most durable and quiet joint. All of us have been in a wood chair that creaks and wobbles. The chair joints have weakened with age and use and eventually needs repair or replacement. One of the reasons is the type of joint used, whether it be screws, glue or other types of joining two pieces of wood together.

A mortise and tenon joint consists, in simple terms, of a 'tongue', (the tenon) that slots into a hole (the mortise) cut in the mating piece of timber. The strength of the joint makes it ideal for use in fine furniture work. For a really strong joint the tenon must be a tight fit into the mortise, so care must be taken when cutting both parts of the joint. For maximum strength, the tenon width should never be more than one third the width of the timber in which it is cut.

Wood Dowels

Genuine teak wood dowels are used to secure the joints in your teak furniture. Using teak dowels allows all your teak furniture to age the same. Using teak dowels also means quiet, strong, long lasting furniture.

Your teak furniture is manufactured with precision cuts for tight fitting of the teak wood dowels. Then carefully inspected for quality fit. We believe you deserve the best, so we demand the best from our experienced expert craftsmen.

Brass fittings

Only the best marine grade brass which is resistant to rust or corrosion brass fittings are used! Teak wood life expectancy is 60 years or more, the mortise & tenon joints are used because of the strength and durability in your teak furniture. Only the best marine grade brass fittings will last as long as your furniture.
